Fox 59 Showcases Bedroom Makeover for a Hoosier Healthcare Hero

Thank you to Fox 59 and news reporter Alexa Green for sharing IDC’s Bedroom Makeover story on the station’s Pay it Forward series. This summer, Indiana Design Center partners and Kit magazine conducted a call for nominations of a healthcare hero working on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic. Nurse Christa Havel from New Palestine was nominated by a friend and won the contest, which included a brand new mattress, bed, bedding, wall/trim paint, night stands, ceiling fan, recliner chair, custom drapery, accessories, a Sonos wireless music player and more.

Christa is a surgery center nurse with Community Health and when the pandemic hit this spring, she and her team quickly switched gears to care for patients in the ICU. In July, Christa was diagnosed with breast cancer and she is now undergoing treatments. We know this newly refreshed bedroom will aid in Christa’s road to recovery and can be a bright spot in her journey.
